When a child dies, at any age, the family suffers intense pain and may feel hopeless and isolated. The Compassionate Friends provides highly personal comfort, hope, and support to every family experiencing the death of a son or a daughter, a brother or a sister, or a grandchild, and helps others better assist the grieving family.

The Greater Manchester, NH chapter offers:

  • Support and friendship to all bereaved parents, grandparents, and adult siblings.
  • Monthly meetings offering small group discussions.  A safe place to share your grief and your memories with others who understand.
  • Information about the grieving process through programs, handouts, and a large Lending Library of books, audiotapes, and videos.
  • One on one support through phone calls or informal meetings with a parent who has "been there".
  • The Children's Memorial Butterfly Garden, a comforting place for remembering our children and siblings and for quiet reflection.
  • Yearly Memorial Events where friends and family may join us in remembering all our precious children.
    • Garden Butterfly Release
    • Worldwide Candle Lighting® in December

We need not walk alone.

Butterfly Release/Picnic/Virtual Walk Fundraiser - Sat. 9/19/20

We are happy to announce that we are able to hold a Corona Virus friendly version of our Butterfly Garden Social on Saturday, September 19th, 11:00-2:00.  We will not be able to have a catered meal this year, but families are welcome to bring a picnic, blanket, and chairs.  We respectfully ask that everyone observe social distancing, bring masks and if you bring a picnic, that you set up away from the garden and you may stay as long as you want. This is a carry in/carry out event.

Each family will be assigned a 20 minute time during their hour to release their butterflies, and your 20 minute time frame will be emailed to you. Please check in order of preference your Hour time frame. We ask you to rank all 3 choices, as we have to limit the amount of people in each time slot and they will be assigned on a first come first serve basis. You will be able to spend time at the garden and the brick walkway at that time. We ask for your patience as we try to make this event work for everyone.

In order to ensure that we have enough butterflies, please RSVP by August 23rd, 2020. Payment can be made online here. Or if you prefer to mail your form make checks payable to TCF Manchester and mail to Anne Silanskas 14 Eldorado Circle Nashua, NH 03062.

Finally we are asking members to do a Virtual or Real Walk Fundraiser for our Chapter. This walk can occur anytime but we are suggesting the dates of Sept 12-19th. The National Office handles the site to do this fundraiser, we receive all monies meant for our chapter and we are currently waiting for them to launch the site. When it is available we will share that info.

I cannot attend this event but would like to make a donation.

there will be one free butterfly per loss per family
